“Abstraction allows man to see with his mind what he cannot see physically with his eyes....Abstract art enables the artist to perceive beyond the tangible, to extract the infinite out of the finite. It is the emancipation of the mind. It is an exploration into unknown areas.”
― Arshile Gorky

About Matt Hurdle
b.1955 (USA) Matt Hurdle is an American artist working from his downtown Indianapolis, Indiana studio. A lifelong artist, his early work consisted of detailed pen & ink and charcoal drawings of places seen in nature.
He has recently moved toward intuitive painting of contemporary, atmospheric landscapes and abstract pieces originating from dreams of places beyond this world and his creative imagination.
Influenced by Abstraction and Expressionism, Matt’s current work reflects his fascination with structure and movement resulting in a feeling of high energy, while his landscapes create a sense of calmness and serenity.
